Ksanah Pratiyogi Parinama Paranta Nirgrahyah Kramah.
KRAMA, THE PROCESS, IS THE SUCCESSION OF CHANGES THAT OCCUR FROM MOMENT TO MOMENT, WHICH BECOMES COMPREHENSIBLE AT THE FINAL END OF THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE THREE GUNAS.
PYS 4.33
In this sutra, Patanjali tells us that when the three gunas (sattva- equanimity, rajas – activity, tamas – inertia) are transcended, the process, or krama, is revealed.
Do you sometimes wonder why your day or even your life seem too lazy, too active or in harmony? Or how do you find yourself in a particular situation?
We are all subject to daily irregularities, caused by our surroundings but even more by our minds. Our minds are full of thoughts of different nature that hinder us from being entirely focused on the moment. These overlapping thoughts make even more difficult for us to determine the reason behind each action.
Since the asana practice reflects our mental state, we can observe when it is lazy and sleepy (tamas), frenetic, aggressive (rajas) or steady and joyful (sthira and sukham). This focus gives us information on what kind of state of mind we are in at that moment, even off the mat.
As yogis and yoginis, we want to cultivate a consistent, conscious practice, that is not so much affected by the ups and downs of our lives. If we can do that, we can apply the same approach to be less influenced by the small daily dramas.
The conscious practice of Vinyasa Krama puts us in charge for our actions and leads us to create as less harm as possible for ourselves and others, facing the bright and the dark side of life with equilibrium.
Vinyasa Krama will be the focus of this retreat at Eremito hotel.
