Digital Detox Retreat in Italy
The hermitage of silence
Eremito is a digital detox retreat in Umbria, central Italy. There is no Wi-Fi, no television, and inside the hermitage no mobile signal. Phones rest in a dedicated outdoor area. For a few days, the connection is with something else: the woods of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, a table shared in silence, your own thoughts.
Here disconnection is not a rule to endure. It is the shape of the place.
What makes it a true digital detox
Many hotels offer a detox package. At Eremito, the detox is the architecture itself.
The hermitage stands alone at the end of an unpaved road, surrounded by 3,000 hectares of protected woodland, far from villages and light pollution. The 18 rooms, the Celluzze, are inspired by monastic cells: a bed, a desk, a window on the valley. No screens of any kind.
Every evening at 19:30, dinner is shared in silence, accompanied by Gregorian chant. Vegetarian, seasonal cuisine. In the morning, yoga. During the day, guided meditations, walks in the reserve, the relaxation area with Turkish bath and jacuzzi, or simply nothing at all.
Most guests do not touch their phone for the length of their stay. Many say it is the first time in years.
Who comes here
Eremito was created above all for those who travel alone: most of the Celluzze are single rooms, and arriving on your own is the most natural way to arrive. The hermitage welcomes guests aged 16 and over.
You do not need to practise yoga, or meditate, or believe in anything. Every activity is optional. You come to stop.

Questions we are often asked
Will I really have no connection at all?
Inside the hermitage, none. A dedicated outdoor area is available where your phone works with its own data connection, for what is truly necessary.
Is it a religious experience?
No. Eremito borrows the rhythms and aesthetics of monastic life, silence, simplicity, Gregorian chant at dinner, but it is a hotel. Guests of every background are welcome, and everything is optional.
How long should I stay?
The minimum is two nights. Three or four days is the length most guests choose to let the rhythm settle.
Not for everyone. For those who wish to inhabit time, not fill it.
Rediscover your rhythm
Eremito was not created to offer escape or entertainment. It was created to offer a space of listening, presence and sobriety. A place that originates in a personal story, but finds its meaning only in the experience of those who pass through it.
